Before you go
Know how your train or bus is operating.
We're running regular service. Check service status before you leave. Use mta.info, the MYmta app or follow us on Twitter @NYCTSubway, @NYCTBus, @LIRR, @MetroNorth, and @MTA.
Consider contactless fare payment
If pay-per-ride works for you, consider using your contactless debit card, credit card, or phone with our OMNY readers. Learn more. (Use our fare calculator to find your most cost-effective option.)
During your trip
Wear a mask or face covering.
It’s required, and it’s the right thing to do. Make sure it covers your nose and mouth. If you've forgotten your mask, we'll have some available at station booths—for kids and adults! You can also purchase a mask from PPE vending machines that we're testing in 10 stations.
Riders who refuse to wear a mask could get a $50 fine.
Clean your hands.
Bring hand sanitizer with you. There are yellow hand sanitizer dispensers in every station. Wash your hands when you get to your destination.
Pay attention to signs in stations.
You’ll see yellow signs and floor markings in stations. They're there to guide you through safely and show you how to keep safe social distance as much as possible.
